CIC Issues First Advisory Opinions of 2023-2024
Oct. 19, 2023 - The Competition Integrity Committee has released its first four advisory opinions of the 2023-24 competitive season. The opinion document can be found both linked with the case materials, as well as the Rules and Forms page.
The CIC has carefully reviewed each submission it received, and does not anticipate releasing any additional opinions in response to questions received before October 19, 2023. See AMTA Rule 15.16(2)(a) (stating “[t]he CIC is not required to answer every question it receives, and the failure to answer any particular question will not be a defense against a complaint seeking sanctions for an Improper Invention”). Generally speaking, the CIC will only issue advisory opinions addressing the application of AMTA Rules 6.11, 7.20(2)(b), and 7.21, and will decline to issue advisory opinions involving the interpretation of the case packet (including the meaning of special instructions or stipulations) or other AMTA rules.
