AMTA Releases 2020-2021 Regionals and ORCS Case Summary

Aug. 26, 2020 - As announced by AMTA President Brandon Harper during the summer Board of Directors Meeting, the AMTA Executive Committee has approved a new topic for the 2020-2021 competition season. The AMTA Civil Case Committee today releases the following case summary:

Casey Soto and their fiancé Drew Matsoukas were scheduled to have their wedding on June 8, 2019, at the Peony Estates, a winery and Bed & Breakfast owned by Harper Martini. Genesis Petrillo, Casey’s best friend, was in the wedding party. The night before the wedding, Harper presented Genesis with a bottle of wine, which Genesis drank. After drinking the wine, Genesis passed away, and an autopsy revealed the presence of pesticides in her system. Genesis’ estate sued Harper Martini and Peony Estates for battery and negligence per se.

The AMTA Civil Case Committee will release the case on or by September 8th. Stay tuned for more details, and follow AMTA on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for more updates on the case in advance of its release. #RoadtoNCT
