2021-2022 Criminal Case Preview

2021-2022 Criminal Case Preview

Apr. 18, 2021 - Per tradition, the Criminal Case Committee has released a preview of the 2021-22 case problem.  Here is the announcement as it was read at the Closing Ceremony of the 36th National Championship Tournament.

The Midlands Supreme Court unanimously held that the felony-murder rule is unconstitutional and reversed Dakota Sutcliffe's conviction. The matter has been remanded back to the trial court for further proceedings. The county prosecutor's office has stated that they intend to retry Sutcliffe in a manner consistent with the Midlands Supreme Court's ruling.

AMTA plans to release the 2021-22 case problem on or before August 15, 2021, to all schools that have registered to compete in 2022.  If you have any questions or concerns about the Criminal Case, please contact the Criminal Case Committee directly.
