As many of you know the Syracuse Regional Tournament that took place Feb. 13-14 did not have adequate judges. As a result, each trial in that tournament had only 1 judge, and, by rule, the results were doubled. Although AMTA and the competitors did the best they could under the circumstances, the reality is that each team in attendance was evaluated by only 4 judges instead of the typical 8.
To remedy this extraordinary situation, AMTA is holding a one-day, two-round tournament this Saturday February 27 at Colgate University. Each team that did not earn a bid at Syracuse was invited. The teams that will be participating are Colgate, Buffalo, Hamilton (2), NYU, and SUNY-Binghamton. Each team will enter with one-half its record from Syracuse (i.e., the actual four-ballot total rather than the doubled results that appear on the tab summary). The winner of this event (based on its combined record) will receive an ORCS bid, and the teams' new records (the original total of up to four ballots, plus up to four additional ballots from the supplemental event) will be used for Open Bid purposes.
If anyone has questions about this event, I will answer them in this forum. Also, we are still searching for judges for this event. If you know of anyone who can assist, please let me know.
Thank you,
David Nelmark
AMTA President-Elect
